Owls football will be on a new turf for the 2023/24 season, literally.
Southern Connecticut State University Athletics has revamped Jess Dow Field. The renovations started on Monday, May 15th, in preparation for the Fall 2023 seasons.
The Owls' new playing surface will be made of the FieldTurf Prestige Vertex. Prestige Vertex is comprised of slit-film fibers and high-performance ridged monofilament fibers.
Jess Dow Field has already received the new turf, which is now fully installed. SCSU holds their football, soccer, field hockey and lacrosse games on the field. The end zones will be highlighted in a dark blue with white outlined lettering.
In addition to new turf, SCSU also received a new track surface. The surface will be in Southern’s colors: blue and white. The new track will be made of Benyon Sports' BSS 300 material, which is a paved-in place surface.
