Nets Trade Kevin Durant; Is It Rebuilding Time?

Updated: May 18, 2023

The Brooklyn Nets decided to make one of the biggest trades in NBA history in the middle of the night. Just days after trading away Kyrie Irving to Dallas, the Nets then looked to deal off Kevin Durant.

Around 1:00amEST it was reported that the Nets have traded KD to the Suns for Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and four unprotected future first-round picks. With that the Nets are virtually unrecognizable from the team they were just a season ago. the big three of James Harden, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant are now all gone, all of them were traded.

This blockbuster trade most likely takes Brooklyn out of a championship run, the team still has solid players but undoubtedly are left with a big hole in the key piece category.

The Nets are not necessarily in rebuilding mode, but they are definitely in a spot in between. The saddest and frankly embarrassing part of all of this is the fact that the Nets couldn’t make one finals appearance with Kyrie and KD. Both players only had 74 games of which they were on the court at the same time across three seasons together.
