Brett Baty is finally getting the call to the majors after starting off 2023 in triple-AAA. The third baseman was previously called-up in August of 2022, he played in 11 games for a .184 batting average.
In the minors this season Baty has soared to a hot start, splits of .400 / .500 / .886 in nine games and 35 at-bats. The 23-year-old slammed 5 home runs and has 15 RBIs on his stat line, accompanied by a 1.386 OPS.
Though it is a small sample size he still has put up big numbers and undoubtedly deserves to have a chance in New York while on a hot streak.
It’s hard to truly pinpoint expectations for Baty as he has very little big-time experience, nevertheless though a batting average of .250 should be a given.
The New York Mets stand 10-6 in the NLE, two-games back on Atlanta. The addition of Baby will provide depth in the clubhouse along with much needed experience.
