At 8:55pmEST Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed after taking the blunt of a big hit late in Q1 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Hamlin then received CPR and oxygen as he was put in an ambulance as everyone both at the stadium and at home prayed. It was then announced just over an hour later that the game went from temporary postponed to suspended for the night.


An update at 10:06pmEST had Damar Hamlin, aged 24, is in critical condition at a local hospital.


At 10:36pmEST, Jordon Rooney, who is Hamlin's marketing representative and close friend posted on Twitter saying: "His (Damar's) vitals are back or normal and they have put them to sleep to put a breathing tube down his throat. They are currently running tests."


As of now Damar Hamlin is in a medically induced coma as hospital staff run tests and provide care.


7/3/23

6:00amEST: Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit mid-game vs the Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.


7:20pmEST: WIVB Sports Director Josh Reed, provided an update on Damar who is currently on 50% oxygen after being fully reliant on it, per Hamlin's uncle to Reed.


7/4/23

11:11amEST: A report by a close friend of Damar says that the Bills' Safety vitals improving, though he is still in the ICU listed as critical.


7/5/23

11:08amEST: It was reported by Damar Hamlin's teammate Kaiir Elam, that Hamlin is awake and showing signs of improvement. The Buffalo Bills released a statement from the physicians who are providing care for Hamlin: "Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours." The Bills' statement also says that Hamlin is still in critical condition and is showing signs that he is neurologically intact.


2:30pmEST: PER UC MED DOCTORS: One of the first things Damar Hamlin asked doctors was who won the Bills-Bengals game. The doctors responded by saying “you won. You won life."


It has also been reported that Hamlin has movement in his legs and feet. Overall the second-year NFL player still remains on a breathing tube as he continues to show signs of recovery.


7/6/23

10:25pmEST: Damar Hamlin's breathing tube has been removed as he is now fully breathing on his own.
