5 Catchers Are Currently On Yankees 40-Man

5 catchers currently reside on the New York Yankees 40-Man roster, which means we will have an odd-man/men out at the end of Spring Training.

Jose Trevino, Austin Wells, Ben Rortvedt, Agustin Ramirez and Carlos Narvaez, all are listed on the Yanks’ 40-Man roster.

Jose Trevino and Austin Wells are already locks for the Majors, so where will everyone else fall?

Ben Rortvedt has been stuck in AAA or on the IL for the majority of his pinstriped career. The 26-year-old didn’t impress in the big league opportunities he had in ‘23, batting a .118 (8-for-68). Rortvedt is reportedly on the Yanks’ trade block, but as of now it looks like he will start 2024 on a Yankees-related roster.

Agustin Ramirez tore it up last season in A+,, where he hit just under .350, but struggled in AA. The international prospect is past the three year mark and would have to go to waivers.

Carlos Narvaez has been playing under the Yankees organization for nearly a decade and is another who would have to pass through waivers. If he isn’t claimed it’s then expected he would once again slot into a AAA slot.
