Jets Lose Garoppolo And White As Aaron Rodgers Deal Is Looking To Fold-In

Updated: May 18, 2023

Monday has not been good for the New York Jets, in fact it is looking to be the beginning of a nightmare.

The Jets still have not heard from Aaron Rodgers on his decision to either retire, continue playing in Green Bay or come over and be a New York Jet. The Gang Green Brass met Rodgers almost a week ago to discuss his future. New York has put all the marbles in on acquiring Aaron Rodgers, which would make the team an instant Super Bowl contender.

Meanwhile in less than a one-hour span the Jets have lost two potential starting quarterbacks that were on their radar: Jimmy Garoppolo and Mike White.

Jimmy Garoppolo was signed by the Las Vegas Raiders via a three-year, $67.5M deal, with $34M guaranteed. Moments later it was announced that the Miami Dolphins signed Mike White on a two-year deal worth up to $16M. White played on the Jets the previous two seasons, starting in eight games.

As of now the options on the table for the Jets front office are Aaron Rodgers, Lamar Jackson, Marcus Mariota and Ryan Tannehill. If the Rodgers acquisition is a failure it is expected that the Jets would then pursue Lamar Jackson.
